BCNC seeks an Assistant Group Leader for the Red Oak After School & Summer Program. You will help shape the lives of children ages 5–13, working with a professional staff to provide high-quality enrichment and care in a community setting. Report to the Director of Red Oak After School & Summer Program.

You will support lesson plans, supervise activities, assist with behavior management, and participate in parent/teacher meetings. A collaborative, child-centered approach is essential.

Qualificações

• Must be at least 16 years old and enrolled in high school or equivalent.
• Interest or experience in supporting children’s development in literacy and/or the arts.
• Maintains a positive and professional attitude in all interactions.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Cultural competency preferred.

Responsabilidades

What You Will Do

The Assistant Group Leader is a member of the BCNC Red Oak After School & Summer Program team. You will have an opportunity to shape the lives of our children ages 5-13. You will work collaboratively with a team of professional staff to strengthen children and families by providing high-quality enrichment and care in a community-based program so parents can work or further their education. You will report directly to the Director of Red Oak After School & Summer Program.

In This Role, You Will

• Provide support for lesson plans.
• Supervise children during academic and recreational activities.
• Help the Group Leaders and Senior Group Leaders to appropriately manage children’s behavior.
• Participate in meetings with parents and teachers as necessary.
• Assist the Group Leaders and Senior Group Leaders on implementation of educational, instructional, and recreational programming for children.
• Assist the Group Leaders and Senior Group Leaders in curriculum planning, creating or running the activity, and take on classroom management while the Group Leaders and Senior Group Leaders run the activity.
• Maintain program supplies and facilities.
• Prepare daily attendance, incident and accident reports, evaluation forms, etc. as needed.
• Attend regular staff meetings, professional development days, and program events.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

What We Look For

• Must be at least 16 years old and have completed or be currently enrolled in high school or an equivalent program.
• Interest and/or experience supporting children’s development in literacy and/or the arts.
• Maintains a positive and professional attitude in all interactions.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Experience working with people of different backgrounds and a high level of cultural competency preferred.
• Professional working proficiency in Cantonese or Mandarin Chinese a plus.

Working Conditions

• Must be available to work a flexible schedule and may require local travel during the workday.
• This position involves performing essential job functions in typical work environments, including but not limited to offices, classrooms, or community settings. Duties may require routine movement such as walking, standing, and bending. Depending on the role, responsibilities may also include the ability to move items weighing up to 25–50 pounds, and the use of computer equipment and effective communication. All essential functions can be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
