Job summary

BCNC seeks an Assistant Group Leader for the Red Oak After School & Summer Program. You will help shape the lives of children ages 5–13, working with a professional staff to provide high-quality enrichment and care in a community setting. Report to the Director of Red Oak After School & Summer Program.

You will support lesson plans, supervise activities, assist with behavior management, and participate in parent/teacher meetings. A collaborative, child-centered approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old and enrolled in high school or equivalent.
• Interest or experience in supporting children’s development in literacy and/or the arts.
• Maintains a positive and professional attitude in all interactions.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Cultural competency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide support for lesson plans and activities.
• Supervise children during academic and recreational activities.
• Assist leaders with behavior management and classroom routines.
• Participate in meetings with parents and teachers as needed.
• Assist with curriculum planning and running activities.
• Maintain program supplies and facilities.
