Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula (BGCP) proudly stands as the largest expanded learning provider in San Mateo County, dedicated to empowering 6,700 TK-College students across 30 sites from East Palo Alto to Daly City. Position Overview

BGCP is actively searching for dynamic and enthusiastic Summer Youth Program Leaders. In this role, you will be responsible for facilitating enriching in‑person academic projects, Camp Galileo activities, and outdoor play sessions during the afternoons for elementary or middle school youth at our Orange Avenue Location in South San Francisco, CA. This position offers a distinct chance to cultivate transformative connections with program participants, acquire essential professional development and leadership skills, and contribute meaningfully to the community. Employment Status: Part‑Time, Seasonal/Temporary

Pay Rate: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour (Depending On Experience)

Location: South San Francisco

Orange Avenue Clubhouse (840 W Orange Ave South San Francisco, CA 94080)

  • Onboarding Dates (must attend one):
    • Dates: May 20th or May 21st (8:00 am - 5:00 pm) – Location: EPA Clubhouse (2031 Pulgas Ave, East Palo Alto, CA 94303)
    • Dates: May 27th or May 28th (8:00 am - 5:00 pm) – Location: Orange Avenue Clubhouse (840 W Orange Ave South San Francisco, CA 94080)
  • CPR Training: Friday, May 29th (9:00 am - 2:30 pm) – Location: Menlo Park Clubhouse (401 Pierce Rd Menlo Park, CA 94025)
  • Galileo Training Date: Saturday, May 30th (8:30 am - 4:00 pm) – Location: LEAD Elementary School (949 Ocean View Ave, San Mateo, CA 94401)
  • BGCP Training Dates: June 1st – June 5th
  • Program Dates: June 8th – July 17th (excluding June 19 and July 3, observed holidays)
  • Work Shift A: 7:30 AM - 12:45 PM
  • Work Shift B: 12:15 PM - 5:30 PM
What will you do?
  • Innovate, execute, and guide captivating and interactive enrichment projects and activities for classes of approximately 20 students.
  • Deliver an enjoyable and hands‑on outdoor play curriculum.
  • Dedicate daily preparation time to organizing materials, reviewing lesson plans, and gearing up for the next day's activities.
  • Apply effective classroom management techniques and behavioral coaching strategies to foster a positive learning environment.
  • Provide support during meal supervision, recess, and other student activities.
  • Attend mandatory orientations, training sessions, and team meetings.
  • Enforce and adhere to all health and safety protocols.

Physical Requirements And Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling, bending at the waist, reaching overhead, crouching, squatting, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 20% sitting, 80% walking & standing. Work environment noise level is usually moderate but can be noisy at times. All requirements are subject to reasonable accommodations.

As part of the hiring process, BGCP requires candidates to complete a LiveScan fingerprinting, background check, and tuberculosis (TB) test.
