Job summary

St. Andrews Country Club in Boca Raton, Florida, is seeking an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to oversee the maintenance and operations of its two championship 18-hole golf courses and practice facilities.

This hands-on leader will supervise a crew of 15–25, work closely with the Superintendent and Director of Golf Course Maintenance, and contribute to large projects including the Palmer Course renovation and Agronomy Center construction.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Turfgrass Management (preferred, not required).
• 4–7 years in golf course maintenance with supervisory experience.
• Florida pesticide license or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
• Strong working knowledge of turf equipment (John Deere, Toro, Baroness).
• Proven leadership, training, and communication skills.
• Ability to balance hands-on work with crew delegation.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 80 lbs. and working outdoors.

Responsibilities

• Daily course setup and inspection for peak playability and presentation.
• Supervision, training, evaluation, and discipline of agronomy staff.
• Manage and monitor irrigation systems (Rain Bird) and related maintenance.
• Fertilizer and chemical planning, inventory, and application.
• Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and assist with budget planning.
• Initiate and oversee purchase orders for supplies and materials.
• Collaborate with Golf Operations to meet scheduling needs.
• Conduct safety and staff meetings; ensure procedures are followed.
• Perform final daily course inspections and adjust operations as needed.
• Evaluate vendors and new products for current and future use.
• Support planning and execution of capital projects and renovations.
