Job summary

Compass Corporate is seeking an Assistant General Manager to support the General Manager in budgeted operations across foodservice and client sites. You will supervise staff, ensure safety and sanitation programs, and foster strong relationships with employees, guests and clients.

You will lead teams and coordinate with other departments to align dining services with facility plans. You will drive food cost control, budgeting, and quality standards while mentoring staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
• Five to seven years upscale food service experience, including one year multi-unit management.
• Excellent leadership and organizational skills, flexible and detail-oriented.
• Supervisory, scheduling, training and coaching skills.
• Effective problem solving and conflict management skills.
• Ability to multi-task and maintain focus amid interruptions.
• Monitor food purchasing, costs, production and inventory controls.
• Prepare and monitor budgets, flash reports, and forecasts.
• Menu planning with chefs.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and reports reconciliation.
• Health and safety compliance in food prep and service.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Professional demeanor and client relations.
• Time management and deadline orientation.
• Advanced Microsoft Office knowledge (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Catering experience is essential.
• ServSafe or Dept. of Health certification a plus

Responsibilities

• Carries out supervisory responsibilities per policies and laws.
• Interviews, hires, trains and coaches employees and managers.
• Participates in employee meetings and training programs.
• Maintains food cost while ensuring quality standards.
• Manages purchasing and inventory controls.
• Is knowledgeable on HACCP controls and proper food storage/use.
• Performs related duties and special projects as assigned.
