Job summary

Cape Fox Lodge in Ketchikan, AK seeks an Assistant General Manager to support the General Manager in daily operations and guest experiences.

The role leads front office and housekeeping, trains staff, and ensures efficiency and high service standards. Offering a salary of $75,000–$85,000 plus comprehensive benefits, this exempt position requires leadership in a dynamic, seasonal hospitality environment with a strong focus on guest satisfaction and operational performance.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain minimum standards for the Front Office and Housekeeping departments.
• Hire, train and supervise, and evaluate front office and housekeeping staff, including managing the Housekeeping Manager.
• Establish clear expectations for employee performance, guest service, and adherence to Cape Fox Lodge standards, policies, and procedures.
• Prepare staff work schedules to ensure adequate coverage and maintain excellent service to guests at all times.
• Authorize departmental payroll in accordance with approved labor standards and maintain the Front Office department within established budget and payroll guidelines.
• Monitor and manage daily Front Office operations, including guest arrivals, departures, reservations, room readiness, and overall property operations.
• Train and monitor front office staff.
• Use proper telephone and reservation etiquette, including accurately describing the lodge, quoting rates, and capturing reservations.
• Welcome guests and respond to questions, requests, concerns, and complaints in a professional, timely, and efficient manner.
• Resolve guest issues promptly and ensure guest needs are consistently met.
• Ensure the property remains clean, comfortable, safe and welcoming.
• Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, common areas, grounds, and operational areas to ensure established standards are maintained.
• Coordinate maintenance and repairs and follow up to ensure issues are addressed and resolved in a timely manner.
• Identify operational issues and implement practical solutions quickly and professionally.
• Coordinate communication between departments to ensure smooth and efficient daily operations.
• Ensure staff performance evaluations are completed professionally and in a timely manner.
• Ensure consistent compliance with lodge standards, policies, procedures, and service expectations.
• Serve as Acting General Manager and assume General Manager responsibilities in his or her absence.
