Job summary

Holiday Inn Express Elk Grove is seeking an experienced Assistant General Manager to lead daily hotel operations during a period of renovation and a planned brand transition to SpringHill Suites by Marriott in 2027.

The AGM will serve as a visible, hands-on leader, work with the Area General Manager, and drive guest satisfaction, financial performance, and readiness for the brand change across two Elk Grove properties.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of hotel supervisory/management experience.
• Strong knowledge of select-service hotel operations.
• Proven ability to lead, train and develop hotel teams.
• Experience managing Front Office operations, guest service, scheduling, and night audit.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, labor management, and expense control.
• Proficiency in MS Office and hotel PMS/accounting systems.
• Willing to work varied schedules, including evenings and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership and operational oversight across the hotel.
• Serve as Manager on Duty and acting General Manager as needed.
• Lead Front Office operations (guest service, reservations, room inventory, night audit, scheduling, service recovery).
• Coordinate with Housekeeping and Maintenance for readiness of guestrooms and public areas.
• Conduct property walks and room inspections; follow up on operations.
• Monitor guest feedback and drive improvement efforts.
• Recruit, onboard, train, coach and develop team members.
• Support daily accounting: income journals, deposits, accounts payable/receivable, controls, reporting.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, labor, purchasing, inventory and expense control.
• Maintain compliance with IHG standards, policies, safety, and laws.
• Prepare hotel for renovation milestones and brand transition to SpringHill Suites.
• Coordinate with vendors and leadership on property needs.
• Respond to guest concerns, staffing issues, emergencies, and operational needs.
