Job summary

Goldfish Swim School is seeking an Assistant General Manager – Wet Side to oversee daily wet-side operations, safety, staffing, and swim lesson quality. You will work with General Manager and department managers to ensure tasks are fulfilled and standards met.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, with experience in lifeguard/instructor roles and strong interpersonal skills. Certifications like CPO and Lifeguard Instructor are required and must stay current; anticipate a dynamic,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or preferred.
• Experience as lifeguard/instructor/camp counselor/childcare provider is desirable.
• Must pass background examinations (included with training).
• Certified Pool Operator and Lifeguard Instructor certifications required and kept up-to-date.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the wet side to ensure safety and quality of swim instruction.
• Direct and train wet side staff to maintain high productivity and positive employee satisfaction.
• Develop and implement Emergency Action Plan and safety procedures for the facility.
• Ensure high standards of swim lesson quality and customer service.
• Coordinate class scheduling, student progress, and staff performance.

Job Title: Assistant General Manager – Wet Side

Reports to: General Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

Summary: Oversees the quality and success of Goldfish Swim School. This encompasses all daily operations including safety, staffing, pool operations, swim lesson quality, customer service, and workplace employee activities amongst other duties.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

Directs and controls the daily operations to ensure the school is running according to GSS standard operating procedures.

Helps the General Manager and department managers fulfill all daily tasks.

Manages the staff of GSS to ensure high productivity, excellent performance and positive employee satisfaction.

Initiates and oversees workplace employee activities with the goal of achieving improved employee satisfaction.

Trains and oversees the aquatics department to provide superior swim instruction to the students of GSS.

Interacts with all wet side staff on issues related to class scheduling, student progress, customer service, employee performance and training.

Troubleshoot the mechanical room as necessary.

Gains a high level of knowledge and experience in the GSS pool operations necessary to maintain a safe and sanitary swim environment.

Development of wet side staff.

Ensures the highest level of swim lesson quality.

Directs, trains, maintains and oversees the implementation of the Emergency Action Plan and all safety procedures that pertain to the GSS facility and EAP.

Maintains current certifications and stays up-to-date professionally on the aquatics and management field.

Other duties assigned by General Manager

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or GED is preferred. Experience as a certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor, and/or childcare provider required. Two or more years as a swimming instructor preferred.

Work Environment: While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to heat and humidity. Noise level is usually moderate.

Certificates and Licenses:

Certified Pool Operator and Lifeguard Instructor certifications required. Both certifications must stay up-to-date and current.
