Constellation Newark seeks an Assistant General Manager to help run the day-to-day food service operation at a medium-to-large venue. You will lead a team of associates, manage budgets, and ensure high-quality service and food safety standards.

The role involves overseeing hiring, training, inventory controls, and maintaining strong client and guest relations within a dynamic dining and events environment in Newark, NJ.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or associate degree with related experience in foodservice management.
• 2–4 years of direct foodservice operational management experience with inventory and purchasing knowledge.
• Strong knowledge of food and catering trends, quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.
• Financial and business acumen skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office, email, and Internet.

Responsibilities

• Assist with managing food service operations within approved budget and provide exceptional service.
• Support financial reporting and budgeting processes.
• Manage salaried managers and hourly associates in the Food Service Department.
• Oversee hiring, onboarding, and training with emphasis on team growth.
• Establish rapport with staff, client and guests.
• Oversee purchasing and inventory controls.
• Ensure HACCP controls and proper storage and use of food.
