Assistant General Manager

Code: AO1024

Purpose:

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) supports branch management in executing restaurant operations, ensuring cleanliness, readiness, staffing, and operational standards. The AGM makes management decisions based on policies and procedures.

Essential Functions:
  1. Complete opening, daily, and closing procedures/checklists according to company policies
  2. Assist the GM/F&B Multi Unit Manager I in supervising daily activities of associates
  3. Conduct interviews, make hiring and promotion decisions, and promote HMSHost as an employer of choice
  4. Analyze financial and operational data to monitor progress and assign staff accordingly
  5. Manage daily activities of associates within the restaurant
  6. Promote diversity and inclusion within the restaurant
  7. Resolve customer and associate issues, escalating complex problems when necessary
  8. Ensure compliance with all adult beverage policies and procedures
  9. Assign tasks, prepare schedules, and ensure shift coverage
  10. Ensure associates take mandated breaks and meal periods
  11. Maintain cleanliness and visual appeal of display areas
  12. Ensure equipment is in good working order
  13. Operate cash register and handle transactions securely
  14. Monitor wellness and safety procedures, report concerns
  15. Perform health and safety activities as per guidelines
  16. Place orders, receive goods, and process invoices
  17. Maintain current contact information for all associates
Requirements:
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including opening, busy, and closing times
  • Knowledge of sanitary, safety, and health standards, including HACCP
Reporting and Schedule:

The AGM reports to the General Manager, Director of Operations, or F&B Multi Unit Manager I. The position requires a varied, rotating schedule, including some opening, busy, and closing shifts.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • At least 6 years of food and beverage, cash handling, and customer service experience
  • At least 4 years of supervisory or lead experience in a Casual Dine restaurant or kitchen
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and customers
