About The Smith

The Smith is an extremely popular casual neighborhood brasserie – in fact, several of our locations are among the Top 100 busiest restaurants in the US! The menu features bistro classics, seasonal fare, and craft cocktails. Our signature lively atmosphere makes The Smith a versatile setting for an after-work bite, drinks on the town, a birthday bash, a working lunch, a bountiful brunch, or an I-don’t-want-to-cook-tonight night.

The Position: Assistant General Manager

  • Assist directly with hiring and training decisions for the front-of-house team.
  • Hold team accountable for company food safety, food handling, and sanitation requirements to ensure the health and safety of our guests and staff.
  • Oversee and ensure that all company systems and policies are maintained.
  • Be attentive to all guests and managers while on the floor creating a great guest experience for all.
  • Make sure all new employees go through the proper training and have all the necessary tools to be successful in their position.
  • Enforce and maintain all labor laws and practices.
  • Assist the General Manager in all forecasting and budgeting.
  • Attend all necessary senior management meetings in the absence of the General Manager.

  • You have 4+ years of experience as an Assistant General Manager or Senior Restaurant Leader, supporting a GM in mentoring and developing teams of at least 3 salaried junior managers.

Location:

This position is based in New York, NY.

The base pay range for this position is a salary range of $90,000-$110,000 per year. The determination of what a specific employee in this job classification is paid within the range depends on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, prior employment history/job-related knowledge, qualifications, and skills, etc.
