THE SMITH in New York seeks an Assistant General Manager to lead front-of-house operations, assist with hiring and training, and uphold food safety and company policies. The role focuses on delivering an exceptional guest experience and managing daily restaurant operations.

Candidates should have 4+ years in restaurant management, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and possess excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of restaurant management experience, preferably in high-volume venues.
• Demonstrates honesty, integrity and strong attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork to lead front-of-house staff.

Responsibilities

• Assist with hiring and training for the front-of-house team.
• Ensure food safety, handling, and sanitation requirements are met.
• Oversee policy compliance and maintain company systems.
• Attend to guests and manage on-floor operations to deliver great experiences.
• Support training and provide tools for new employees to succeed.
• Enforce labor laws and practices and assist with budgeting and forecasting.
• Participate in senior management meetings in the GM’s absence.

THE POSITION: ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist directly with hiring and training decisions for the front-of-house team
• Hold the team accountable for food safety, food handling, and sanitation requirements to ensure the health and safety of our guests and staff
• Oversee and ensure that all company systems and policies are maintained
• Be attentive of all guests and managers while on the floor creating a great guest experience for all.
• Make sure all new employee go through the proper training and have all the necessary tools to be successful in their position.
• Enforce and maintain all labor laws and practices.
• Assist the General Manager in all forecasting and budgeting.
• Attend all necessary senior management meetings in the absence of the General Manager.

The base pay range for this position is $95,000-$110,000 per year. The determination of what a specific employee in this job classification is paid within the range depends on several factors, including but not limited to prior employment history/job-related knowledge, qualifications, and skills, etc.
