Job summary

Acrisure is seeking an Assistant General Counsel for North American Insurance in Naperville. The role provides risk-based legal counsel across wholesale brokerage, MGA, MGU, and program administration, guiding regulatory and contractual matters to enable growth.

You will draft and negotiate a broad portfolio of commercial agreements, develop playbooks, evaluate product risks, and partner with Compliance and Operations to resolve complex regulatory issues.

Qualifications

• Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Five to eight years of legal experience with substantial support for insurance distribution.
• In-house experience with insurance brokers, wholesalers, MGAs, program administrators, carriers, or specialty insurers preferred.
• Experience supporting mergers & acquisitions in the insurance sector preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal advice on wholesale brokerage, MGA, MGU, and program administration matters.
• Draft, review, and negotiate brokerage, producer, carrier, MGA/MGU, and related agreements.
• Develop templates, playbooks, and clause libraries to accelerate transactions.
• Evaluate legal risks for new products, programs, and carrier relationships.
• Advise leadership on regulatory developments and business initiatives.
• Guide on insurance distribution regulations, carrier audits, and contractual obligations.
• Partner with Compliance, Regulatory Affairs, and Operations to address issues.
• Deliver practical, commercially-focused guidance balancing objectives and risk.
• Support acquisitions, integrations, and strategic transactions.
• Perform other duties and provide additional legal support as needed.
