Assistant General Counsel - Energy Projects - Remote

The Opportunity

A large, established energy business is looking to appoint an experienced Assistant General to support the development and construction of major energy and infrastructure projects across the US.

This is a senior, business-facing position working closely with development, construction and commercial teams on complex projects across power generation, energy storage and other large-scale energy infrastructure.

The successful candidate will provide legal support throughout the project lifecycle, with a particular focus on project development, EPC/construction and complex commercial contracting.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal support across the full lifecycle of major energy development and construction projects.
• Draft, review and negotiate complex project and commercial agreements.
• Advise on EPC, construction, procurement, equipment supply and development agreements.
• Support a range of large-scale power generation, storage and energy infrastructure projects.
• Identify and assess legal and commercial risks and provide practical advice to senior stakeholders.
• Work closely with development, construction, operations, procurement and commercial teams.
• Manage complex matters independently and coordinate external counsel where required.

Experience

• Approximately 8-13+ years of legal experience.
• Strong background within energy, power generation or infrastructure.
• Experience negotiating EPC, construction or other major project agreements.
• Exposure to large-scale power generation, renewable energy or energy infrastructure projects.
• Experience across areas such as conventional generation, battery storage, renewables or emerging energy technologies would be particularly relevant.
• Strong commercial drafting and negotiation skills.
• Law firm and/or sophisticated in-house energy experience.

Working Arrangement

• Remote
• Candidates must be comfortable working Eastern Time Zone hours.
