Job description

The Assistant General Counsel is responsible for the assisting the General Counsel & Chief Ethics Officer (General Counsel) in providing in-house legal services to the State Board of Administration (SBA). This position is located in Tallahassee, FL and requires on-site, in-office work.


Duties include:

  • Preparing, reviewing and negotiating contracts for the SBA
  • Providing legal support and performing legal research to advance the legal function of the SBA
  • Reviewing and providing advice on legislation and regulations affecting the SBA and SBA policies
  • Providing oversight and support for public records requests

Five years of related experience. Admission to the Florida Bar as a member in good standing. A postsecondary degree may be used as an alternative for years of direct experience; 2 years for an associate's degree, 4 years for a bachelor's degree, 6 years for a master's degree, 7 years for a professional degree, or 9 years for a doctoral degree.


Preferences:

  • A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited college or university

  • Expertise in law relating to investments, business transactions, securities, benefits, and/or administrative practice
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and business acumen
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
