Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking an Assistant Fund Controller in San Francisco, CA to join its growing finance team. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
• 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably within real estate, private equity, investment management, financial services, or a related industry.
• Public accounting experience strongly preferred; CPA preferred.
• Strong understanding of fund accounting, partnership accounting, financial reporting, and investment structures.
• Experience working with audits, tax reporting processes, and external service providers.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and project management skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast‑paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes for assigned investment vehicles and related entities.
• Review financial statements, investor reporting packages, capital account activity, and supporting schedules.
• Manage cash forecasting, liquidity planning, capital activity, and treasury‑related processes.
• Coordinate with auditors, tax advisors, third‑party service providers, and other external stakeholders to support reporting and compliance requirements.
• Oversee accounting for investment vehicles, including reconciliations, journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and financial analysis.
• Support investor communications and respond to financial reporting requests and inquiries.
• Research technical accounting matters and assist with the implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and process improvements.
• Mentor junior team members and collaborate on acquisitions, financings, new investment structures, and other special projects.
