Position Summary

The Assistant Football Coach is responsible to the Head Football Coach for helping manage a varsity intercollegiate sports program and team. Specific responsibilities include supervising players, coaching a position, and supervising defensive staff and substituting as the Defensive Leader when the head coach is not available.

Essential Functions

1. Coach defense and help implement the plan and philosophy of the defense.
2. Assist in preparing all aspects of the defensive plan and scheme as delegated by the head coach.
3. Assist the head coach in the day-to-day operation of the program, mainly through equipment needs.
4. Become knowledgeable in Oklahoma High School Football recruiting.
5. Demonstrate active interest in the academic progress of student-athletes.
6. Recruitment responsibilities delegated by the Head Coach.
7. Prepare defensive scouting reports.
8. Work proficiently with multiple computer software systems daily.
9. Coordinate incoming student-athletes' equipment and lockers.
10. Instruct proper skills and skill development to student-athletes.
11. Work under the supervision of the head coach.
12. Maintain an organized and proper workspace.
13. Attend scheduled meetings and events punctually.

Position Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree.
• Previous coaching experience.
• Knowledge of computer applications, including recruiting and video analysis software.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Availability to work weekends, evenings, and travel as needed.
