Job summary

Dierbergs Markets, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Floral Manager to support a busy floral department in Saint Charles. You’ll work largely independently with a floral specialist, while engaging with customers to provide tailored arrangements and timely service.

This entry-level role offers weekly pay, good benefits, and growth opportunities into supervisory tracks. You’ll gain hands-on experience in operations, merchandising, and cross-training across departments.

Qualifications

• Experience or aptitude in creating floral arrangements with style and accuracy.
• Ability to provide friendly, timely service and process payments accurately.
• Comfort with basic math, computer use, and operating a cash register.

Responsibilities

• Receive, sort and rotate cut flowers, bouquets and arrangements.
• Create simple corsages, boutonnieres and floral arrangements.

You’re a multitasking master with the perfect personality to work independently (mostly just you and another floral friend) while also interacting with our customers. Most of all, you want the freedom to do what you enjoy. If you’re focused, detail-oriented and eager to learn, you’ll thrive in this entry-level role as an Assistant Floral Manager with Dierbergs. As you’re branching out in this fun department, we’ll rely on you to:

• Receive, sort and rotate cut flowers, bouquets and arrangements
• Create simple corsages, boutonnieres and floral arrangements
• Operate cash register and computer systems while processing all forms of payment (gift cards, checks, credits, debits and floral charges)
• Process customer orders for in-store purchases and delivery
• Arrange store merchandise to best showcase our creative selection of flowers, plants and gifts

What you need to succeed

• Desire to provide floral arrangements and timely service with thought, style and expertise
• Ability to work in varied temperature-controlled environments (36-degree cooler) and tolerate a high-pollen and seed-spore environment
• Basic math and computer skills
• Ability to keep your work area safe and clean using company-approved equipment
• Flexibility to work a varied schedule that includes weekends and holidays

Physical Requirements

• Lifting & Carrying - Up to 25 lbs occasionally
• Pushing & Pulling - Up to 20 lbs force occasionally
• Occasional - Sit, kneel, stoop, squat, climb, overhead reach, & power grip
