Job summary

City of Seguin is seeking an Assistant Fire/EMS Chief to lead the Operations Division, coordinate staffing, and supervise all fire and EMS activities. The role includes acting as Fire Chief in their absence and commanding incidents as needed.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in fire science or related field, 10+ years in municipal fire service with 4+ in command, and strong budgeting and leadership abilities. Advanced certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in fire science, public administration, management, or related field.
• At least 10 years in a municipal fire department with 4+ years in a command-level role including budgeting and supervision.
• Requires advanced fire protection certifications and EMT/paramedic credentials as preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate staffing and equipment to ensure proper response capabilities.
• Supervise Operations Division; assume Fire Chief duties in his absence and command scenes when needed.
• Plan, organize, and oversee training and drills to maintain fire and EMS certifications.
• Develop and manage department policies, budgets, and operational guidelines.
• Monitor department activities and ensure compliance with NIMS and Emergency Operations Plan.
