Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of city geography.
• Knowledge of county geography, elementary physics, chemistry and mechanics, firefighting principles and hydraulics; applicable rules.
• Skill in operating emergency vehicle safely.
• Physical ability to swim, lift up to 165 lbs, climb ladders, perform CPR, wear PPE.
• Demonstrated ability to tolerate heights and confined spaces for extended periods.
• Ability to operate all department vehicles and equipment; read maps; maintain records.

Responsibilities

• Respond to alarms and assist in fire suppression and rescue operations.
• Drive fire trucks, ambulances or other emergency vehicles to scenes and operate safely.
• Connect supply lines, operate pumps and maintain readiness of equipment.
• May establish incident command and supervise scene activities.
• Perform post-incident cleanup and overhaul work.
• Maintain and repair equipment, vehicles, and station grounds.
• Provide EMS as trained and document assessments and care.
• Escort patients to emergency departments and ensure proper handoff to medical staff.
• Maintain supplies in vehicles and participate in department training.
• Complete required reports and participate in wellness program.
