Job summary

V2X, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Fire Chief (Fire Prevention) to lead the Fire Prevention Division, directing inspections, code enforcement, investigations, public education, and community risk reduction programs.

This executive role partners with the Fire Chief and the department's leadership team. The ideal candidate has eight+ years in fire service, with at least three in supervision, plus a Bachelor's in a related field and Fire Inspector/Investigator certification; Master’s and NFA

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Science, Fire Administration, Public Administration, or a closely related field is required.
• A Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
• Eight years of progressively responsible fire service experience, with at least three years in a supervisory/management role within fire prevention or related areas.
• Certification as a Fire Inspector and Fire Investigator is required.
• Completion of the National Fire Academy’s Executive Fire Officer Program or equivalent training is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise personnel within the Fire Prevention Division, including inspectors, investigators, and public education staff.
• Develop and implement division policies, procedures, and strategic plans.
• Coordinate with other divisions and external agencies to ensure cohesive fire prevention strategies.
• Oversee building inspections for code compliance and manage plan reviews for new construction and renovations.
• Investigate fires to determine origin and cause and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and promote fire safety education programs for the community.
