Job summary

Progressive Mechanical, Inc. is seeking an experienced cost estimator to develop design/build and plan & spec estimates by analyzing blueprints and customer specs. You will perform take-offs of piping, ductwork, equipment and materials using QuoteSoft under general supervision.

You will support bid strategies, coordinate with sales, attend pre-bid meetings, and hand off estimates to the Project Manager. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills are required.

Qualifications

• Experience estimating piping and ductwork from plans and specs.
• Ability to support bid strategies with customer specifications.
• Familiar with subcontractor coordination.

Job description

Develop cost estimates for design/build and plan & spec jobs through analyzing blueprints and customer specifications on less complex assignments under general supervision. With direct guidance, may assist in the preparation of larger or more complex estimates.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Prepare routine estimates under general supervision.
• Review and understand plans and specifications.
• Provide support for the development of bidding strategies by obtaining customer specifications from salesperson(s) for quoted work
• Identify project bid requirements, scope of work, non-standard work conditions.
• Take off piping systems, duct systems, equipment and materials with estimating software (QuoteSoft), to develop estimated labor and material costs
• Identify information that needs to be sent out to subcontractors
• Work on pipe and duct details, and equipment selections.
• Hand off project and estimate information to a Project Manager and/or Chief Estimator.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and/or walk-throughs.
• Assist project managers with change orders and other budget changes

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Keep current and up-to-date with computer software updates
• Participate in company training programs and attend authorized external conferences or seminars as required to keep current in company and industry standards and operating procedures.
• Perform any special assignments, additional projects, or other job-related duties as may be necessary to carry out the responsibilities of this position as required by the executive team
