Job summary

The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is hiring two Assistant Electrical Engineers in Queens, NY to serve as Assistant Project Managers for the Wastewater Capital Program.

You will support upgrades at wastewater resource recovery facilities, CSO projects, and pumping stations, coordinating with BEDC and other agencies. The role emphasizes environmental health and safety, schedule and cost control, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and one year of full-time experience is required.
• Or a bachelor’s in electrical engineering plus a master’s degree (can substitute for one year of experience).
• A degree in any other engineering area is not acceptable.
• Excellent communication and writing skills required.
• Preferred knowledge of wastewater treatment facilities and related codes.

Responsibilities

• Support WWCP design and construction projects for BEDC.
• Develop and track design and contract documents.
• Conduct field investigations and propose solutions.
• Review scope, schedule and cost development and management.
• Contract administration and procurement tasks.
• Coordinate with agency bureaus and stakeholders; ensure EH&S compliance.
• Monitor KPIs for budget and schedule throughout the project lifecycle.
