Job summary

Hazen & Sawyer in Birmingham seeks an Electrical Engineer with 0-4 years of experience to contribute to industrial power design, including medium and low voltage distribution, generator design, motor control, VFDs, lighting, and equipment layout.

Candidates should understand NEC and related codes and possess strong communication skills to interact with senior engineers, clients, and contractors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
• 0-4 years of relevant experience in heavy industrial electrical engineering and design.
• EIT certification or ability to obtain within 1 year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Support the lead electrical engineer on multiple concurrent projects for water and wastewater facilities.
• Prepare project specifications.
• Perform conductor sizing, conduit sizing, protective device sizing, lighting, and other electrical calculations.
• Coordinate with civil, process-mechanical, structural, architectural, HVAC, and instrumentation disciplines.
• Perform site visits as needed.
• Perform electrical design work in AutoCAD and/or Revit as required by the project.
• Perform electrical power system studies in SKM and/or ETAP as required by the project.
• Review shop drawings and respond to requests for information.
• Support the lead electrical engineer to perform factory witness testing of electrical equipment as required by the project.
