Job Description

The Assistant Electrical Engineer (DOE) will assist project teams in creating world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments in a government manufacturing facility for the Department of Energy. The role involves working throughout the design and construction process, adapting electrical plans based on budget constraints, design factors, or client needs.

Responsibilities
  1. Assist in electrical design from conceptual to completion phases.
  2. Review and modify design & construction drawings.
  3. Design electrical components as per project requirements.
  4. Apply knowledge of electrical engineering principles, codes, and practices.
  5. Research and compile project data.
  6. Analyze and propose solutions to project concerns.
  7. Collaborate with drafting teams for equipment layouts.
  8. Conduct site visits for data gathering, monitoring, and responding to RFIs.
  9. Perform manufacturing engineering tasks including quality checks.
  10. Update drawings with senior engineers’ corrections using CAD software.
  11. Assist with client presentations, shop drawings, and contract admin.
  12. Perform field inspections and measurements.
  13. Troubleshoot electrical design issues during construction.
  14. Adhere to all policies and standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related from an ABET-accredited program; or
  • Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering Technology with FE exam completion; or
  • Related internship or consulting experience preferred.
  • Ability to obtain Department of Energy Security Clearance.
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Methodical, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla, and electrical analysis programs like RISA.
  • Attention to detail, teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • EIT certification preferred.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Additional Information

This position is full-time, based in Kansas City, MO, with travel up to 25%. The posting remains open until filled, with a minimum of 72 hours.
