Job summary

SSI People is seeking an Assistant Electrical Designer to contribute to a wide range of electrical design and drafting activities across diverse project types in Albuquerque or Phoenix. You will help produce accurate design deliverables and support project documentation in a collaborative, multi-discipline environment.

The role requires familiarity with CAD tools, ability to interpret sketches and notes, and a willingness to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

Job Summary: We are supporting a search for an Assistant Electrical Designer to contribute to a wide range of electrical design and drafting activities across diverse project types. Our team is looking for someone who can help produce accurate design deliverables, support project documentation, and work collaboratively within a multi-discipline environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, site evaluations, analytical designs, report preparation, specifications, and electrical plans.
• Prepare engineering drawings from sketches, verbal instructions, notes, and mark-ups using CAD software.
• Support electrical design work including schematics, grid plan layouts, power systems, lighting systems, protection and controls, and site and facility design.
• Organize and maintain project drawings, revisions, plot files, and related information in a clear and structured manner.

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in drafting technology or a related field and 2 years of related experience, or an associate degree and a minimum of 3 years of related experience, or high school and a minimum of 4 years of progressive detailing and design experience.
• Ability to sit in either the Albuquerque, NM office or the Phoenix office, with an on-site work arrangement.
• Willingness to travel 25%.
• Legally authorized to work permanently in the country where the position is located, without time limitations, restrictions, or the need for work sponsorship.
• Preferred experience with CAD and some experience in GIS.
• Strong understanding of design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Excel, plus the ability to learn and use new design software programs effectively.
