The Engineer II position serves as Assistant Division Contract Engineer, supporting contract preparation and letting for highway project contracts, including reviewing plans, estimating quantities, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. Key duties include evaluating estimates, plans, and proposals, instructing corrections, developing cost estimates and project provisions, reviewing designs, creating contract proposals, managing contract documents, and facilitating construction administration. The role requires strong knowledge of engineering concepts, project development, and construction processes.
Applicants must demonstrate experience in project planning, data management, customer service, and engineering concepts related to bridges and roadways. Knowledge of NCDOT procedures and experience with data entry into relevant software are also required.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution and three years of responsible experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. May require PE registration in North Carolina.
