Job summary

Maryland State Highway Administration seeks an Assistant Division Chief to lead the Technical Analysis Section within the Environmental Planning Division. You will supervise teams focused on highway noise, natural resources, and air quality, ensuring compliance with 23 CFR 772 and state/federal requirements.

You’ll coordinate with FHWA, manage studies, and guide policy development. You will also oversee workload planning, reporting, and collaboration with regulators.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in natural sciences, earth science, environmental science, or related fields as listed in the vacancy.
• Nine (9) years of experience in environmental analysis or environmental management with leading responsibilities.
• Selective Qualification: Two (2) years of experience in noise and acoustical analysis for transportation projects and related regulations.

Responsibilities

• Oversight of the Technical Analysis Section within the Office of Planning and Preliminary Engineering.
• Lead teams specializing in highway noise, natural resources, and air quality to meet state/federal standards.
• Serve as liaison to FHWA on noise policy and regulatory interpretation; manage workload of the Noise Analysis Team.
