Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is seeking an Assistant District Maintenance Engineer to assist in overseeing maintenance operations across District 2. You will help planning, development and oversight of county maintenance units, and contribute to HMMS/EAMS reporting and budgeting.

The role involves collaboration with the District Engineering Administrator, meetings with officials and the public, and participation in statewide committees.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management and six (6) years of engineering or construction management work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence.

Responsibilities

• Assist the District Maintenance Engineer in planning, development and oversight of county maintenance units.
• Oversee HMMS/EAMS reporting and budgets at district level (including roadway, facility and equipment maintenance).
• Supervise the HMMS/EAMS Coordinator and assist with HMMS/EAMS issues as necessary.
• Attend meetings with the public, elected officials, contractors and local government officials on maintenance related issues.
• Serve on District and Statewide committees related to maintenance activities, policies and procedures.
• Travel occasionally and may respond to emergency situations.
