Job summary

The 30th Judicial District Attorney General's Office in Memphis, TN is seeking qualified attorneys to serve as Assistant District Attorneys. The role focuses on prosecuting a broad spectrum of criminal cases and developing strong litigation skills in a collaborative environment.

ADAs will handle felony, misdemeanor, juvenile, and specialized matters, with opportunities to mentor less experienced attorneys and participate in ongoing legal education and professional development.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Bar license in Tennessee or eligible via reciprocity.
• Strong ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex legal documents, statutes, and case law.
• Strong written communication skills for drafting pleadings, motions, and advocacy.
• Strong oral communication skills for presenting arguments to judges, juries, and counsel.

Responsibilities

• Prosecute felony, misdemeanor, juvenile, and specialized criminal cases.
• Review police reports and determine appropriate charges.
• Prepare cases for Grand Jury presentation and trial.
• Develop trial strategy, conduct plea negotiations, and determine sentencing recommendations.
• Interview witnesses, secure expert testimony, and prepare cases for court.
• Handle pre-trial, trial, sentencing, and post-trial proceedings.
• Communicate case status with victims, law enforcement, and defense counsel.
• Participate in continuing legal education and professional development.
• Provide training and support to less experienced attorneys, as assigned.
