Purdue University Indianapolis is seeking an Assistant Director to promote College of Engineering degree programs at on-campus and off-campus events for prospective and admitted students and their families.

You will manage programs led by the department, coordinate CRM-based events, supervise Peer Counselors, and travel to high schools and college fairs to raise awareness of CoE opportunities. This role reports to the CoE Director of Recruitment and Strategic Initiatives in Indianapolis.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 4 years of experience in recruitment, marketing/communications, teaching, advising, mentoring, or customer relations
  • Equivalencies will be considered and preference for experience with diverse student populations
  • Experience with CRM and event planning is a plus

  • Design and deliver presentations to audiences regarding CoE programs and opportunities

Job Summary

The Assistant Director will promote CoE degree programs and opportunities at the Purdue Indianapolis location. Promotion would take place during on-campus and off-campus events to audiences of prospective and admitted students, their parents, high school guidance counselors, and potentially other organizations involved in the college enrollment process. The position will manage on and off campus programs lead by department. The position will report to and work closely with the CoE Director of Recruitment and Strategic Initiatives in Indianapolis to implement strategic plans and programming.

What You’ll Be Doing:


  • Meet individually and in groups with prospective students, admitted students, and their families.

  • Meetings are both in person as well as virtual.

  • Manage and respond to inquiries from prospective students, admitted students, and their families.

  • Coordinate and oversee the logistics execution and evaluation of engineering information sessions and admissions programs, including creating events in the CRM and coordinating with faculty, staff, students, and engineering departments.

  • Manage, train, and supervise Peer Counselors to answer inquiries, meet with families, and lead or support recruitment programs and events.

  • Travel to targeted high schools and college fairs to promote CoE programs.

  • Design and deliver presentations to large and small audiences regarding the CoE programs and opportunities.

What We’re Looking For:

Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Four (4) years experience in any of the following or related areas: college recruitment, marketing/communications, teaching, advising, mentoring, or customer relations

  • Equivalencies will be considered

  • Preference given to those who have worked with diverse student populations in high schools or universities


Skills needed:


  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills, relationship building skills, organizational skills, problem solving skills, and ability to work as a team.

  • Ability to communicate with a wide variety of audiences and develop strong relationships a must.

  • Must take initiative, and possess ability to work under pressure.

  • Some evening and weekend work is required.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Experience with CRM a plus.
