Job summary

The University of Utah seeks an Assistant Director for Orientation to join the leadership team within the Office of Orientation & Transition. The role oversees programs, coordinates staff, and supports strategically for new student transitions.

You will supervise student leaders, contribute to training, and help execute major initiatives like Utah Bound Orientation and Weeks of Welcome to foster belonging and student success.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience or a master's (or equivalency) degree.
• Experience in higher education or student transition programs is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise staff, and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Represent the Office of Orientation & Transition with professionalism and a commitment to student success.
• Lead planning, coordination, and implementation of large-scale transition programs such as Utah Bound Orientation and Weeks of Welcome.
• Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate student staff, serving as a mentor for student leaders.
• Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for staff.
• Oversee program logistics, marketing, and communication strategies.
• Maintain program records and assist with assessment, evaluation, and budget documentation.
