Job summary

Texas Student Life at the University of Texas at Austin seeks an Assistant Director of Student Organizations (Events) to provide strategic leadership and oversight for student organization event planning, space reservations, signature programs, and tech systems.

You will supervise full-time staff, coordinate with campus partners, and guide student leaders and advisors to ensure accessible services and successful programs.

Responsibilities

• Implement priorities for student organization development by managing and producing signature programs.
• Coach and educate student leaders in leadership, organizational management and policies.
• Set program goals, review plans, and collaborate on delivery of consultations.
• Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate staff, including direct oversight of full time staff.
• Oversee the graduate and undergraduate student team supporting unit functions.
• Uphold and reinforce unit expectations, coordinate event staff responsibilities, and staff development.
• Oversee student organization indoor and outdoor space reservation and event consultation process.
• Establish procedures, service standards, and guidance for university policies including guest speaker and weapons approvals.
• Oversee and support consultations and guide staff on complex or unresolved requests.
• Coordinate with campus partners to clarify processes, address organization needs, and strengthen access to resources.
• Manage the suite of technologies used by the office (Engage, Campus Groups, Mazevo, Qualtrics, Office).
• Coordinate system support and provide training and resources for staff and advisors.
• Review technology needs and propose improvements that support efficient event management and records.
• Support adoption of upgraded software to connect and encourage involvement on campus.
• Coordinate data collection, assessment, and reporting for Student Organizations programs and events.
• Collaborate with departmental teams to analyze participation, feedback, and outcomes.
• Use findings to recommend improvements to programs and event services.
• Assist in special assignments and committees on behalf of Student Organizations within Student Life.
