Job summary

The University of Utah Sports Nutrition Department is seeking an Assistant Director of Sports Nutrition to provide clinical and performance-focused nutrition coverage for college athletes, under the supervision of the Executive Director of Sports Nutrition.

Qualifications include RD or RD eligible within 3 months, 2+ years of college athletics experience, and strong knowledge of athletic nutrition, supplementation safety, and client education.

Qualifications

• RD or RD eligible within 3 months of hire.
• 2+ years’ experience in college athletics.
• Strong knowledge of nutrition as it relates to athletic performance.
• Experience identifying and managing disordered eating in athletes.
• Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
• Willingness to work non-standard hours, nights, weekends, or holidays.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of dietary supplements safety and efficacy.

Responsibilities

• Counsel athletes on nutrition for training, competition, recovery, weight management, hydration, and more.
• Coordinate body composition testing dates and provide assessments for teams.
• Conduct new athlete nutrition screenings for assigned teams.
• Coordinate team nutrition services including talks, hydration testing, cooking classes, travel nutrition.
• Provide supplementation recommendations guided by policies.
• Prepare sports nutrition content for Utah Sports Nutrition social media.
• Participate in Sports Performance Team meetings and CARE team meetings.
• Coordinate with staff on competition meals and menus.
• Supervise two year-long sports nutrition dietetic interns and volunteers.
• Stay abreast of current nutrition issues and research related to sports nutrition.
