Job summary

Breaking Ground in New York City seeks an Assistant Director, Programs, Safe Options Support (SOS). Reporting to the Director, Programs, this role oversees the SOS contract in LOCATION, applying CTI, Harm Reduction, Recovery Orientation, Motivational Interviewing, and Peer Support to move clients from homelessness to housing.

Qualifications

• NYS Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW) required.
• Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.
• Strong understanding of Housing First, Harm Reduction, CTI, and motivational interviewing.
• Crisis intervention and incident management experience.
• Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong delegation and staff motivation skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with diverse populations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Access databases and learning new programs.
• Valid driver’s license in NY/NJ/CT/PA preferred.
• Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee SOS program components in LOCATION including outreach and housing placement activities.
• Utilize outreach strategies to identify areas where individuals are staying on the street and provide services.
• Supervise Clinical Coordinators and Community Health Specialist.
• Provide regular, structured supervision meetings.
• Support best-practice interventions with street homeless populations and coordinate with on-site psychiatric/street medicine team.
• Promote Housing First, Harm Reduction, CTI, Motivational Interviewing, and trauma-informed care models.
• Provide guidance for incident management, risk assessments, and timely documentation to oversight entities.
• Engage with external partners to ensure responsive service planning and operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
