JOB OPENING POSITION TITLE: Early Childhood Education Assistant Director
REPORTS TO: Program Director
STATUS: Part Time Transitioning to Full Time once the second location opens. Guaranteed minimum 10 hours per week to start
BENEFITS: Compensation-hourly 28+ DOE; 6 weeks paid vacation; Paid sick leave; Priority enrollment and discounted tuition for dependents, Lunch and snacks provided; Annual wage increase and bonus depending on performance.
SUMMARY: Provide a comfortable and secure environment for children to meet their emotional, social, intellectual, and physical needs. Organize and present materials that are age appropriate in the form of crafts and lesson plans and activities. Provide information to parents on childcare techniques as needed.

We believe that children learn through hands-on experience and that an ideal learning environment should be fun, memorable, and help the children to grow and develop in all aspects. We believe all children have unique gifts and potentials and design our activities carefully to stimulate children’s thinking, creativity, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Our bi-lingual approach allows children to explore through academia, play, and to experience every event as an opportunity to learn by also expanding their linguistic skills.The childrenwill not onlylearn mandarin, but also develop a strong educational foundation on which to build and grow.Our teachers guide the children and provide them with the social and academic skills to excel throughout their future.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Follow program policies, Performance Standards and Licensing Guidelines.
• Conduct program screenings and assessments with children
• Consistently use Teacher and Child interactions and child guidance strategies that maintain a positive social/emotional atmosphere.
• Use appropriate strategies to promote literacy in a dual language or multi-lingual environment.
• Support children daily with developmentally appropriate literacy, numeracy, scientific inquiry, creative and physical opportunities with respect to the learning styles and abilities to meet the needs of all students.
• Follow a daily schedule that creates a consistent routine yet allows flexibility for emergent activity.
• Contribute to writing weekly lesson plans that reflect the children’s linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
• Build positive relationships with families and community
• Be able to assist with the preparation, presentation, and cleanup of projects and activities.
• Inspect classroom equipment and materials daily to ensure they are safe, clean and in good repair for children’s use.
• Be able to apply best practices and judgment calls in the interest of maintaining a safe environment.
• Work collaboratively with teaching counterparts to build a strong curriculum and fun and engaging learning environment.
• Annually complete 10 hours of STARS training and maintain Professional Development goals.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• 30 Hour Stars Training completed or willing to complete within 90 days from start of hire.
• Have at least 2 years’ experience working with children ages 1-5yrs old
• Experience volunteering or working in a multi-cultural environment with various educational backgrounds
• Must meet federal and state health and safety standards and maintain credentials for childcare (CPR and first aid, HIV, CPS Training, pass TB test)
• Have a clear DCYF portable criminal background check
• Ability to lift a minimum of 45 pounds
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Four years teaching experience in a childcare center, or an equivalent combination of education and experience working in multi-cultural environment
• Ability to collaborate and communicate in a diverse population.
