Job summary

Montage Hotels & Resorts in Newport Beach, CA is seeking an Assistant Director of Security to lead day-to-day security operations under the Director of Security. The role focuses on establishing policies, incident review, and training associates in emergency procedures to safeguard guests and assets.

Ideal candidates bring proven safety leadership, strong communication, and the ability to manage a team in a luxury hotel environment.

Qualifications

• Prior Safety and Security leadership experience
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including holidays and weekends
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Luxury hotel security experience is a plus

Responsibilities

• Support and assist the Director of Security with managing day-to-day operations
• Establish and implement security policies and procedures
• Review and follow-up on incident, accident, and loss reports
• Assist with Fire Life Safety policies and procedures
• Develop and train associates in emergency preparedness
• Assist in implementing the hotel’s key control program
• Participate in Safety Committee and drive actions
• Collaborate to develop department SOPs
• Train associates on OSHA rules and Worker’s Compensation
• Serve as systems administrator for access control and CCTV

Your Leadership

• Support and assist the Director of Security with managing the day-to-day operations of the Security Department
• Establish and implement security policies and procedures
• Review and follow-up on all incident, accident, and loss reports
• Assist with establishing Fire Life Safety policies and procedures
• Develop and train associate(s) in emergency preparedness procedures
• Assist in the implementation of the hotel’s key control program
• Actively participate in the property’s Safety Committee and take ownership of action items
• Collaborate with Director of Security to develop and implement department Standard Operating Procedures
• Assist in training associates on all OSHA-related rules and regulations and Worker’s Compensation
• Act as systems administrator for access control system and CCTV (Closed-circuit Television) system
• Perform additional duties as assigned that may be outside the scope of duties, based on business needs

Must Haves

• Prior Safety and Security leadership experience
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Prior experience managing Workers Compensation and General Liability claims preferred
• Proficiency, knowledge, and experience of basic law enforcement, a plus
• Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule, including holidays and weekends
• Microsoft Office products; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Embrace Technology - continually learn, adapt, and master to new operating system
• Luxury hotel experience, a plus

The pay scale for Assistant Director of Security is $84-86k annually.

The pay scale is the base salary or hourly wage range, exclusive of incentive pay such as commissions, piece rates, gratuities, and the like, that Montage reasonably expects to pay for the position.
