Job summary

Universities of Wisconsin is seeking an Assistant Director for Retention to lead holistic advising, academic and financial retention initiatives, and program assessment that centers on student success. You will supervise two Retention Specialists and coordinate with the OMSS and UW System initiatives such as AERIE living/learning and tuition programs, while guiding living/learning communities.

Initial interviews will be virtual with campus visits for shortlisted candidates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum 4 years of full-time experience in a higher education setting or equivalent.
• Experience in program development, implementation, and assessment for student populations.
• Experience with low-income, first-generation, transfer, and multicultural students.
• Ability to build partnerships with faculty, staff, and students across campus.
• Experience advising student groups.
• Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication.
• Strong computer skills including MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead holistic advising and retention programs focused on student success.
• Supervise two Retention Specialists and oversee related initiatives.
• Coordinate cross-campus partnerships to support financial aid and student services.
• Develop assessment methods for retention program outcomes and effectiveness.
• Maintain records and use EAB Navigate to track appointments and campaigns.
• Engage in department and campus retention efforts and service improvements.
