Job summary

Universities of Wisconsin is seeking an Academic Advisor to engage students in decision-making about courses, degree requirements, and career options. The role emphasizes confidential, holistic advising and timely student support to promote retention and program completion.

The Advisor will manage a caseload, maintain advising records, and collaborate with colleges to deliver advising services, workshops, and campus events. Experience in higher education advising is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience with advising or higher education setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide advising services for prospective and incoming students including meetings, transcript evaluation, placement information, program/plan confirmation, degree progress assessment and registration facilitation.
• Manage assigned caseload of students with degree progress assessment, curriculum knowledge, and policy exemptions as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality and accurate student records in line with FERPA.
• Develop advising relationships to support student success, retention, and program completion.
• Participate in campus-wide advising community and implement advising events such as workshops and panels.
• Leverage educational technologies to support advising and registration processes.
