Job summary

WesleyLife in Washington, IA, seeks an experienced Nursing Administrator to lead our aging care operations. Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with 3–5 years in geriatric nursing administration; a valid Iowa RN license is required. Strong supervision and knowledge of healthcare laws guide daily leadership.

You'll develop policies, oversee staffing, evaluate performance, and ensure high-quality resident care while collaborating with the Director of Nursing and wellness teams.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with 3–5 years in geriatric nursing administration.
• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa.
• Strong supervisory and leadership skills to guide nursing personnel.
• Knowledgeable in nursing practices, procedures, laws and long-term care regulations.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, oversee and assist with staffing schedules for the households.
• Provide input on performance evaluations and actions on complaints and terminations.
• Develop and update policies and procedures governing daily nursing operations.
• Report to the Director of Nursing on operational issues and recommendations.
• Counsel residents and families regarding needs and care plans.
• Oversee infection control programs and quality assurance monitoring.
• Lead restorative nursing efforts in coordination with Wellness Director and DON.
• Provide leadership in the DON's absence and perform other duties as required.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

• Plan, develop,oversee,andassistwithall staffing schedules for thehouseholds.
• Provide input/develops performance evaluations and recommends actions on employee complaints, resolution, terminations, etc.
• Develop,maintain, and update written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day nursingoperations of the health center in coordination with Director of Nursing.
• Make written and oral reports/recommendations to the Director of Nursing as necessary/required, concerning the operation of the nursing staff.
• Assistin the evaluation of the health care services needed for each residentrelativeto the level of lifestyle accommodations. Communicates and counsels with residents and family membersregardingpotential problems, needs, and care plans asappropriate.
• Serves as a liaison for staff transitions from shift to shift and promotes cooperation between departments.
• May provide oversight ofMDS transmission and completion.
• Participateincommunitysurveys, inspections, etc. made by authorized government agencies.
• Overseeinfection control programs and reporting.
• Workwith Director of Nursing and other leadershipteam members on quality assurance performance monitoring.
• Works with and oversees restorative nursing in coordination with Wellness Directorand Director of Nursing.
• Provide leadership to the team inabsenceof theDON.
• Performother duties as instructed by the Director of Nursing.

Education & Experience

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing plus have a minimum of three - five years experience in nursing administration in a geriatric setting.
• Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa.
• Knowledgeable in nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long-term care.
• Strong supervisory and leadership skills to develop/supervise nursing personnel in a team environment.
