Rockaway Care Center is hiring an Assistant Director of Nursing to support the Director of Nursing in overseeing the nursing staff and patient care at a 228-bed facility in Far Rockaway, NY. The role requires an NYS RN license, an associate degree, and prior long-term care experience with some management exposure.

Responsibilities include compliance, quality of care, interviewing and orienting staff, and on-call duties.

Qualifications

• RN license in New York State (required)
• Minimum Associate degree
• Minimum 2 years of long-term care experience
• Minimum 1 year of management experience preferred
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
• Flexible hours as needed

Responsibilities

• Assist the DNS with management responsibilities and maintain quality of care for residents
• Assist with compliance and effective communication across nursing staff levels
• Assist with nursing needs of residents and on-call rotation
• Assist with interviewing, hiring and orienting new staff
• Complete Accident and Incident Reports and summaries
• Participate in grievance investigations with Social Work for the nursing department
• Oversee Infection Control Program
• Assist with auditing and QAPI as needed
• Follow physicians' orders; administer medications, start IVs, perform treatments and document per policy and regulations
• Oversee Nursing department in DNS absence

• Oversee Nursing department in Director of Nursing absence

*Qualifications of a Registered Nurse (RN)*: *

• Current New York State RN license
• Minimum Associates Degree
• Min 2 years exp in Long term care Setting
• Min 1 year management experience preferred
• Must have effective communication skills, both verbal and written
