Job summary

Northern Nevada State Veterans Home is seeking an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to support clinical operations in Sparks, NV. You will provide hands-on leadership to RNs, LPNs, and CNAs, ensuring high-quality resident care and survey readiness.

The role involves staff development, QA/QI coordination, and collaboration with nursing leadership to maintain compliance with state and federal regulations. A Nevada RN license and supervisory experience are required.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing (Nevada or ability to obtain).
• Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in skilled nursing or long-term care.
• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required.
• Strong knowledge of state and federal long-term care regulations.
• Leadership and communication skills; able to collaborate with residents, families, and surveyors.
• On-call rotation including evenings/weekends as needed.
• Experience with PointClickCare is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership across the nursing department.
• Support orientation, education, and ongoing staff development.
• Coordinate QA and QAPI activities and corrective actions.
• Audit documentation for regulatory compliance.
• Support survey readiness and participate in surveys.
• Lead incident investigations and root-cause analysis.

The Northern Nevada State Veterans Home (NNSVH), operated by Health Dimensions Group under contract with the Nevada Department of Veterans Services, is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Assistant Director of Nursing to support clinical operations at our modern skilled nursing and long-term care community in Sparks, NV.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Nursing, the Assistant Director of Nursing will provide clinical leadership and operational support across the nursing department while helping ensure high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, staff development, and survey readiness.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to RNs, LPNs, and CNAs

• Support orientation, annual education, and ongoing staff training initiatives

• Coordinate Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance processes, including QAPI activities and corrective action plans

• Audit systems and documentation for compliance with state and federal regulations

• Support survey readiness efforts and participate in survey activities

• Partner on incident investigations and root-cause analysis initiatives

• Assist with staffing oversight and scheduling support to maintain appropriate coverage

• Participate in interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and staff development activities

Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing (Nevada license or ability to obtain required)

• Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in skilled nursing, post-acute, or long-term care settings required

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing required

• Strong knowledge of state and federal long-term care regulations and survey processes

• Strong communication and leadership skills with ability to work collaboratively with residents, families, leadership, and surveyors

• Ability to participate in leadership on-call rotation, including evenings/weekends as needed

• Experience with PointClickCare preferred

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary range: $86,000 - $120,000 annually DOE.

  • Salary will be determined based on qualifications and relevant experience.

• $5,000 Sign-On Bonus
