Job summary

Brookside Care Center is looking for an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to support our nursing department and ensure safe, high-quality, person-centered care for residents.

The ADON will work with the Director of Nursing to provide clinical oversight, staff development, regulatory compliance, and a culture of accountability and teamwork. RN/LVN in California preferred with long-term care leadership experience.

Qualifications

• Current, active RN license in California.
• Experience in skilled nursing/long-term care preferred.
• Leadership, charge nurse, supervisor, or management experience preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director of Nursing with the overall management and direction of nursing services.
• Provide clinical leadership and support to nurses and CNAs across all shifts.
• Monitor resident care to ensure services follow care plans, physician orders, and regulatory requirements.
• Support assessment, monitoring, and follow-up of resident changes in condition.
• Participate in care planning, IDT meetings, quality improvement activities, and clinical reviews.
• Assist with staff education, orientation, competency development, and performance coaching.
• Monitor medication management, documentation, infection prevention, falls, wounds, and other clinical areas as assigned.
• Assist with reviewing incidents, identifying trends, and implementing appropriate interventions.

Join our team as an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)!

We are looking for a motivated, compassionate, and team-oriented Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to support our nursing department and help ensure our residents receive safe, high-quality, person-centered care.

The ADON works closely with the Director of Nursing and nursing leadership team to provide clinical oversight, support staff, maintain regulatory compliance, and promote a positive culture of accountability and teamwork. This is a great opportunity for an experienced nurse who enjoys leadership, developing staff, and being actively involved in day-to-day clinical operations. RN/LVN needed.

What You'll Do

• Assist the Director of Nursing with the overall management and direction of nursing services.

• Provide clinical leadership and support to nurses and CNAs across all shifts.

• Monitor resident care to ensure services are provided according to care plans, physician orders, facility policies, and regulatory requirements.

• Support the assessment, monitoring, and follow-up of resident changes in condition.

• Participate in care planning, IDT meetings, quality improvement activities, and clinical reviews.

• Assist with staff education, orientation, competency development, and performance coaching.

• Monitor medication management, treatments, documentation, infection prevention, falls, wounds, and other clinical areas as assigned.

• Assist with reviewing incidents, identifying trends, and implementing appropriate interventions.

• Support survey readiness and regulatory compliance efforts.

• Promote effective communication between nursing, residents, families, physicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.

• Assist with staffing, scheduling, and maintaining appropriate nursing coverage.

• Round throughout the facility and maintain a visible leadership presence.

• Step in to support the nursing department during call-outs, emergencies, and other operational needs.

• Help foster a respectful, accountable, and collaborative work environment.

What We're Looking For

• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California.

• Previous skilled nursing/long-term care experience preferred.

• Previous leadership, charge nurse, supervisor, or management experience preferred.

• Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills.

• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively with residents, families, staff, physicians, and the interdisciplinary team.

• Strong understanding of nursing documentation, care planning, infection prevention, and regulatory requirements.

• Someone who is approachable, dependable, and comfortable taking ownership when issues arise.
