Job summary

Washington State University is seeking an Assistant Director for Education Abroad to lead and optimize the Education Abroad operations across the university. The role coordinates faculty-led programs, advises students on opportunities that fit their academic plans, and collaborates with the Advising community to broaden study abroad options.

The position will supervise paid student staff and volunteers, support risk management, and coordinate with the Office of International Programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master’s may substitute for 1 year of experience.
  • 3+ years in student services or related education/experience.
  • Experience in higher education administration or advising.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Terra Dotta software.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and improve EA advising operations to increase participation across the WSU system.
  • Coordinate faculty-led programs with WSU faculty, colleges, and external vendors.
  • Advise students on EA opportunities aligned with academic requirements.
  • Collaborate with Advising community to expand study abroad opportunities.
  • Assist with Terra Dotta software management and support.

Job description

**The Opportunity:**The **Assistant Director for Education Abroad (EA)** is an integral member of the **Office of International Programs (IP)** and the EA team who facilitates education opportunities for WSU students at home and abroad. The Assistant Director of Education Abroad performs essential functions, which may include but are not limited to:* Developing, maintaining, and improving the daily advising operations of EA at WSU to increase participation of students across the WSU system within each college and campus.* Coordinating the development of faculty-led programs with WSU faculty, colleges, departments, and external vendors including maintaining policies and procedures.* Advising students on EA opportunities within their academic requirements.* Collaborating with WSU Advising community to increase opportunities available for students to study abroad within their academic plan.* Assisting with the management and support for Terra Dotta.* Supervising paid student staff and overseeing the student volunteer program.* Serve as support for Risk Management & Crisis Situations.**Additional Information:**This is a **full-time** (100% FTE), **permanent** position. This position is overtime **eligible.****Monthly Salary:**$4,102.52 - $4,641.66 | *Commensurate with experience and qualifications* In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Experience leading or directing the work of others. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis.* Experience in higher education administration, teaching, or student services.* Demonstrated leadership skills or experience.* Public Speaking experience.* Demonstrated proficiency/skills using Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, andPowerPoint.* Demonstrated knowledge with web-based search tools and applications.* Proficiency with Terra Dotta software or similar platforms.* Willingness and ability to work outside of regular business hours of operation, including during evenings and on weekends as necessary.**Preferred Qualifications:*** Knowledge of the field of international education, education abroad trends, and higher education advising best practices.* Experience with faculty-led program development, including but not limited to budgets, risk management, implementation, and assessment.* At least one year of experience supervising professional or student staff.* Strong strategic thinking skills with the ability to independently develop and execute long-term plans.* Demonstrated experience that includes international work or travel or education abroad.**Position Sponsorship Eligibility:**Not eligible for work visa sponsorship **About College/Area** -International Programs **Area/College:**Office of International Programs**Department Name:**Education Abroad**Location:**Pullman, WA **Application Instructions:**Applicants must upload the following required documents to their online application.
