Job summary

Worcester State University seeks an Assistant Director of Admissions to lead undergraduate recruitment, counsel prospective students and families, and render admissions decisions. The role includes travel to off-campus events and supervising tour guides and student ambassadors.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning and execution of travel-related recruitment events.
  • Travel on behalf of the University to off-campus recruitment events.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with secondary schools and community colleges.
  • Provide counseling to prospective domestic and international students.
  • Speak publicly to individuals and groups on and off campus.
  • Evaluate and render admission decisions for freshman and transfer applicants.
  • Help plan campus recruitment events, including open houses.
  • Oversee tour guide program (hire/train/schedule/supervise).
  • Develop content for social media engagement and supervise student ambassadors.

Job Description:

OFFICIAL TITLE: Assistant Director of Admissions

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Director of Recruitment

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: May supervise non-professional and/or part-time student staff as assigned

General Statement of Duties: The Assistant Director ofAdmissions serves as a representative of Worcester StateUniversity, leading undergraduate recruitment efforts and fosteringrelationships with prospective students, families, and schoolpartners. The incumbent represents the university at recruitmentevents, provides comprehensive admissions counseling, evaluatesundergraduate applications and renders admissions decisions.Performs other related work in support of the university'senrollment goals and strategic recruitment initiatives.

Responsibilities:

(E) = Essential

  1. (E) Assists with the planning and execution of alltravel-related recruitment events by designing a recruitmentstrategy aimed at meeting enrollment goals.
  2. (E) Travels on behalf of the University to various off-campusrecruitment events for an assigned target recruitment area.
  3. (E) Develops and maintains close working relationships with keysecondary school and community college constituents.
  4. (E) Provides counsel and service to prospective domestic andinternational, freshmen, and transfer students inquiring aboutadmission to the University.
  5. (E) Speaks publicly to individuals and group, on and offcampus.
  6. (E) Evaluates and executes admission decisions on applicantfiles for freshman and transfer applicants, including completion ofcredits.
  7. (E) Assists in planning, organizing, and administering allcampus recruitment events, including open houses and admittedstudent events.
  8. (E) Provides oversight of the tour guide program by hiring,training, scheduling and supervising student tour guides.
  9. (E) Develops strategy and content for the offices' social mediaengagement tool and is responsible for supervising the studentsocial media ambassadors
  10. (E) Serves as liaison to the Student Accessibility ServicesOffice.
  11. (E) Promotes and maintains continued cooperation with otheradministrative offices that are integrated with the admissionsprocess.
  12. (E) Represents the Admissions Office on various Universitycommittees, as assigned.
  13. (E) Demonstrates civility and professional, customer-serviceoriented behavior, worthy of emulation by other staff andstudents.
  14. (E) Responsible for contributing to the WSU StrategicPlan.
  15. (E) Responsible for contributing to EqualOpportunity/Affirmative Action objectives.
  16. Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Information:

This is a full-time, benefited, exempt, APA professional position.The firm annual salary range for this position is $58,000- $62,000,commensurate with relevant professional experience andeducation.
