The University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing is looking for a dynamic Assistant Director of Admissions, Recruiting, and Financial Aid to shape the future of our vibrant, close-knit community. As the guiding force behind implementing our recruiting, admissions, and financial aid strategy, the Assistant Director will help attract and select the next generation of nurses.

Reporting to the Associate Dean for Strategy, the Assistant Director will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership and oversight of the Admissions Office. The Assistant Director will collaborate with the Associate Dean, and others, to ensure that the institution meets or exceeds its graduate enrollment goals and oversee enrollment strategy and initiatives. This position will serve as a key role in the Strategy leadership team and will be responsible for establishing quarterly and annual goals for the department, while striving to achieve those goals. Excellent collaboration skills are a prerequisite, as this position will regularly interact and strategize with School leadership, faculty, Marketing and Communications, Student Affairs Office, University Communications and Marketing, and University Graduate Education stakeholders.

In this influential role, the Assistant Director will collaborate with our talented faculty, staff, and students, driving programs that prepare advanced practice nursing professionals. The Assistant Director’s operational oversight and leadership will directly influence the growth and diversity of our student body, ensuring that we continue to nurture and challenge the most promising artistic minds.

A bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience is required. A master's degree with experience in college or university recruiting and admissions with increasing levels of responsibility is preferred. Demonstrated experience in a leadership or supervisory position and experience supporting diverse populations is also preferred.

Job Summary

Manages administrative and operational details for the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid. Develops, implements, and oversees student financial aid programs and admissions and registration activities. Establishes direction, goals, implementation strategy, and policies and ensures compliance with all regulations.

Essential Functions

Admissions, Recruitment, & Financial Aid – Leadership

• Assist with the development of strategic recruitment plans and support the implementation of these plans throughout the Graduate Admission and Recruitment team.

• Participate in cross-functional planning retreats with a focus on process improvement and new initiatives.

• Troubleshoot high-level problems and issues concerning admission and other University policies and procedures.

• Keep up to date on national, international, local, and campus issues around enrollment and the potential impacts on the work of the office.

• Assist in the creation and lead the execution of strategy for remote and virtual recruitment and yield events.

• Participate in enrollment strategy development conversations, target setting, and post-action assessments.

Admissions, Recruitment, & Financial Aid – Operations

• Oversight of admission/selection, financial aid analysis, and scholarship packaging processes of students admitted to the University.

• Participate fully in the admission of graduate students admitted to the School.

• Ensure all campus visit experiences and admissions programs are fully staffed and run effectively to support the School’s recruitment and enrollment goals.

• Represent the School of Nursing at professional conferences, college programs, and other travel as needed by the School.

• Travel domestically and internationally to recruit students and inform them of educational opportunities available at the School.

• Lead regularly occurring staff meetings and admission planning retreats to focus on office progress and development, process improvement, staff development and training, and new and innovative initiatives.

• Collaborate with campus partners to ensure cohesive relationships in executing and delivering experiences for students throughout the pipeline.

• Oversee the administration of recruitment and yield events in close collaboration with other offices and campus partners.

• Provide direction and share in the strategy (with faculty and the Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) for the Office of Admission diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.

• Liaise, as needed, with other offices in the School, at the University, as well as with external stakeholders

• Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to ensure alignment through the Recruitment/Admissions funnel in order to best support inquiries, applications, and enrollment efforts.

Supervision & Team Oversight

• Develop and monitor team metrics to ensure that operations are running smoothly.

• Oversee and troubleshoot day-to-day operations of the admission office functions.

• Responsible for the recruitment, training, retention, and evaluation of Admission staff.

• Manage the Admissions budget, while monitoring expenses to ensure compliance
