Job summary

Westmoreland County Community College is seeking a Director of Nursing Program to provide oversight, leadership, and coordination for the Associate Degree Nursing program. The role involves coordinating development, planning, and assessment of the program to maintain its integrity and faculty excellence.

The position requires a Master’s in Nursing, PA RN license, and several years in higher education and nursing education, plus administrative and supervisory experience.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Nursing; advanced education in nursing practice and/or education is preferred.
  • Current PA Registered Nurse license required.
  • 5-7 years of experience in Higher Education, inclusive of 4 years of nursing education experience, required.
  • 3 years of experience in educational or healthcare administration required.
  • Prior supervisory and management experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the development, planning, management, review and assessment of the nursing program. Ensure the integrity of the nursing program and its faculty.
  • Promote and facilitate professional development activities for self and faculty consistent with contemporary nursing practice; didactic, laboratory, and clinical instruction.
  • Provide guidance to and actively participate in processes that help ensure the number and quality of program faculty meet the needs of the program and its students. Coordinates orientation activities of new faculty.
  • Provide guidance to and actively participate in the selective admission process that ensures the number of qualified applicants offered conditional acceptance correlates with program resources.
  • Coordinates orientation, by cohort, of newly accepted students.
  • Coordinates clinical placement of faculty and students through collaboration with individual clinical agencies, verification of clinical compliance and participation in clinical agency affiliation meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with all standards, policies and processes as established by regulatory and accrediting bodies and other program-affiliated agencies. Ensure nursing program policies and processes that differ from those of the College are recognized and supported by the College. Monitors program outcomes and provides guidance in the Program Evaluation and Assessment processes.
  • Work with the College's Educational Foundation Office to secure external funding to support nursing program(s).
  • Engage in leadership activities within and external to the organization where appropriate.
  • Mediate academic, faculty and student concerns.
  • Promote efficient and effective office operation with staff, faculty, grant funded employees, College departments and external constituents.
  • Responsible for carrying out College policies and procedures and verify differences are justified by the purpose and outcomes of the nursing program.
  • Hire, mentor, and supervise direct reports; complete scheduled performance evaluations.
  • Develop and recommend operating and capital budgets; assist in managing approved budgets.
  • Perform job duties in accordance with College policies and procedures; adhere to bargaining unit agreements as applicable.

Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Nursing required; Advanced education in nursing practice and/or education is preferred
  • Current PA Registered Nurse license required

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior accreditation experience, including interpretation and analysis of data and leading quality improvement initiatives preferred.
  • Experience working with and supervising employees under labor contracts preferred.

Salary

$82,175 (minimum)
