Job summary

The University of Maryland, College Park’s Clark School seeks an Assistant Director of Instructional Technologies to lead and support the school’s instructional technology and audiovisual services.

This leadership role directs four staff, oversees classrooms, studios, and distance education, and partners with faculty, vendors, and university units to improve accessibility, reliability, and user experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Seven years of professional experience managing classroom technology support or implementing/troubleshooting technology in an academic setting.
• Two years of experience supervising or managing professional staff.
• Knowledge of tools and technology to support instruction.
• Knowledge of educational theory and practice.
• Knowledge of trends and future directions of technology in academia.
• Strong communication skills (oral & written).
• Proficiency with Microsoft and Google Workplace products.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational, technical, and administrative leadership for instructional technology and audiovisual services.
• Manage daily operations and supervise four full‑time staff.
• Lead planning, design, procurement, installation, testing, operation, and lifecycle management of AV and instructional technologies.
• Develop tech roadmaps and equipment replacement plans; coordinate vendors and contractors.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, university partners, vendors, and other stakeholders.
