Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Technology or related field.
• Six years in information technology including customer service.
• Three years of supervisory experience.
• Equivalency of education and experience may be considered.
• Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Lead IT strategy and major technology initiatives for the IT Bureau.
• Oversee IT infrastructure, services, budgeting and purchasing.
• Develop IT policies, procedures, standards and best practices.
• Manage vendor and consultant relationships; ensure cost-effectiveness.
• Mentor and develop IT staff; drive innovation and staff growth.

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is seeking an experienced and strategic Assistant Director of Information Technology to join the leadership team of our Information Technology Bureau. Working closely with the Director of Information Technology, IT leadership, agency leaders, and key stakeholders, this position helps shape IT strategy, directs operational activities, leads major technology initiatives, and identifies innovative, cost-effective solutions that support the evolving needs of the agency.

The ideal candidate is an accomplished IT leader who combines strong technical expertise with strategic thinking and effective people leadership. They have experience leading teams and complex technology initiatives, managing competing organizational priorities, and translating technical needs into practical solutions. The successful candidate will provide leadership in areas including IT infrastructure and services, major projects, budgeting and purchasing, vendor and consultant relationships, and the development of IT policies, procedures, standards, and best practices. They will also mentor and develop staff, foster innovation, and help ensure the Bureau is positioned to meet current and future technology needs.

Qualifications
