Job summary

University of California, Berkeley seeks an Assistant Director of Student Services to advise students and faculty on academic issues, including curricular matters, progress toward degree, and graduate work. Interfaces with campus offices for policies and formal processes.

This full‑time role manages course schedules, funds for student programs, ASE appointments, outreach, and recruitment events, collaborating on orientation, commencement, and career information sessions across the school.

Qualifications

• Experience advising and counseling students on degree progress and policies.
• Ability to interpret university policies and apply them to student cases.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; collaboration with campus offices.

Responsibilities

• Advises faculty and students on school and university policies and procedures for degree completion; reviews progress and recommends interventions.
• Provides visa and immigration guidance and assists with employment eligibility/authorization.
• Interprets policies on student conduct, grievances, and discrimination-related issues.
• Manages scheduling, enrollment processes, and coordination with registrar for course planning.
